Wild boar attacks farmer

A 40-year-old farmer from Berti in Zhemgang was referred to the national referral hospital yesterday after a lone boar attacked him at noon.

The father of four sustained injuries on the back, legs and left hand. All injuries were inflicted by the boar’s tusk.

His nephew, Sherub, who was accompanying him, said the man was herding cattle in Tongchu, three kilometers away from Berti village when he saw a boar moving very slowly.

Sherub said the man followed the boar, as the boar didn’t run away when he shouted. The boar then went missing and suddenly attacked him from behind.

Yebilaptsa hospital’s GNM, Sonam Tobgay, who was escorting the patient, said the patient is in stable condition as of yesterday evening. It’s, however, feared that the lungs were injured by the boar’s tusk.
